Mary Carrillo -"There is a difference between being a tourist and being a traveler," says Mary Carrillo. This self-described world traveler ought to know. In the past 30 years, she has visited more than 70 different countries and is almost three-quarters of the way toward her goal of visiting 100 countries in her lifetime. Her first trip was an American Express trip to Europe - six countries in 21 days. Since then, she rarely travels with groups. When Mary first began traveling she would take an extra suitcase filled with school supplies and distribute to children along the way. This gesture has earned her the respect and gratitude of the local people, which in turn has resulted in extraordinary experiences. On Easter Island in the Pacific Ocean she brought over a thousand pens and distributed them at the local school. At Sunday Mass several excited children approached her and gave her the nickname "Lapiz Lady" (the pencil lady). In Kenya on a safari, when a flat tire cause a delay in their trip, instead of reacting to the group of Maasai’s who came running, hoping for a hand out, Mary showed a genuine interest in a mother and her infant, wanting to learn more about their lives. By coincidence, the next day Mary’s group was in the same woman’s village. Recognizing Mary, the woman proudly took her around, providing Mary with an extraordinary private tour of the real life of the tribe – even introducing her to Warriors of the village and inviting her to partake in some of their cultural rituals. This was a trip Mary never forgot – nor did the woman who was so touched by Mary’s interested responses in her. She also traveled with Patronato del Ninos to San Miguel, Mexico, a philanthropic organization sponsoring medical and educational programs for children. But when asked, Mary admits that a village in Belize became her "Heart Project." While some people adopt a child, Mary adopted not only several families there, but the entire St. Isabella's Primary School and Harmony Hut Preschool.  Even dogs and cats In the Village Of Bermudan Landing were included. She started going there several years ago with a few suitcases of personal items and sandals to share with the villagers.  Since then, she has brought computers and printers to the University of Belize School of Nursing and the Community Baboon Sanctuary, helped build a clean bathroom for the children at the school, and she returns to Belize every year with more school and medical supplies, books, clothing, shoes and personal care items for all the people who love her generosity and loving spirit.  She encourages her friends to join her any time.  It is a standing invitation. In addition to travel, Mary also had a very successful and rewarding career as a Registered Nurse. Her nursing career took her from clinical nursing at Mercy Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland to a position as a nurse supervisor, and instructor, and Nursing Program Coordinator, Maryland Department of Mental Health and Hygiene at nine state hospitals. She was founder and Co-director of Wellspring, a professional education center and assisted in development of the Baltimore Rape Center and later had the opportunity to train with Laura Perls, the wife and co-founder of Gestalt Therapy. Mary later became a member of The New York Institute of Gestalt Therapy. As her career took off, so did her desire to see the world. If she had a four-day weekend, she'd travel to the Virgin Gorda, Nassau, New York or Washington D.C.. Her love for travel took her everywhere.  She led a seminar in Sydney, Australia and visited the Aboriginal Sacred Land, and the Great Barrier Reef. She went on safaris in Kenya, Tanzania, Zimbabwe and South Africa as well as in the Northern Territory of Australia Not all of her adventures and accommodations were comfortable. She has stayed in areas where there has been no water or electricity and had to collect water from a crocodile infested billabong. She has traveled on cruise ships, yachts, speed boats, falucas on the Nile. The Revos Rail in Africa  local vehicles, trains, boats and small planes.  She now owns her own on-line travel booking service to enable others easy and affordable access to traveling to the areas of the world that inspire and interest them. Each year she invites others to join her on her trips. (Seehttp://marycarrillotravel.com.) Mary's purpose in life is to inspire and empower others to reach their greatest potential. Her vision and generosity has made a difference in many, many lives.  To that end she has educated herself in Personal Growth and Development programs and has attended, invested in, or been on staff many personal, professional and business development programs. These include the Washington DC Landmark Education Corporation’s The Landmark Forum and Introduction to the Forum Leaders Program.  She worked with Carol Dysart, DISC Master in her Certified Consultant Program for using DISC Personality and Job Style Profiling Systems. She has also attended Harv Ekers’ Peak Potential Seminars, the PSI Seminars, Excellerated Business Schools for Enterpreneurs’ Money & You® Program, CEO SPACE (formerly Income Builders International programs), as well as taking and promoting the Cannon Training and Development and The Cannon Business Institute. Her work and support of the later three programs has affected the lives of hundreds of people on both a personal level and a business level.  It is the composite of all these incredible experiences which will allow Mary to offer you the greatest support with your own life and projects.
